Crazy Eyes, the beautiful almost 10 minute song that Richie wrote about Gram Parsons. Title of Richie's farewell to Poco album of 1973. Never played live by Poco, the Richie Furay Band started playing the song live a few years ago when multi instrumentalist Scott Sellen inspired Richie to add the song to the list.
This is the first ever live performance where Rusty Young plays the pedal steel part that was such a favorite 'best ever' steel in Poco's catalogue. This is from the rehearsal for that evenings celebration of Richie 70th birthday. I was lucky to be there and I do regard this footage as one of the best one I ever did (on my iPhone!). It's the middle part of the song where Rusty paints his masterpiece on that sweet steel and where you can see the whole band enjoying this 'deja vu'.
Performed at the SOPAC in South Orange, New Jersey on may 17th 2014. Enjoy! (Jack Jeckot is his real name by the way...sorry for that Jack..)
