Fly tippers – You’ve been warned! We CAN and we WILL take your vehicle and follow it up with legal action!

VEHICLE SEIZED ON SUSPICION OF BEING INVOLVED IN FLY TIPPING

We have seized a vehicle we suspect may have been used for fly tipping.

On Thursday 9 April, the van was picked up from outside an address in Ryhope, after it was allegedly seen/involved in a fly tipping incident. Councils have powers to apply for forfeiture orders, which allows them to confiscate any vehicle they suspect has been involved in environmental crime or fly tipping.

If you are employing a waste carrier it’s your responsibly to check their license. If you do employ an unlicensed waste carrier the householder can be prosecuted failing under duty of care. Residents have a legal ‘Duty of Care’ to make sure waste is disposed of lawfully and failing to do so is an offence.
