"Knifes sta"
Where the origin of the name Knivsta comes from is not entirely clear. One theory is that it comes from the name of a person "Knife" and "sta" in the sense of place of residence, ie Knife's place of residence. It is in an old writing from 1288 that one first finds the name, with the old spelling "Knifvsta".
