Opportunities to vaccinate are being missed, FIP’s policy advisor & project manager Zuzana Kusynova told the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, today. In a statement on pandemic influenza preparedness, Ms Kusynova highlighted community pharmacists’ involvement in immunisation activities has been directly associated with expanded vaccination coverage. “Joint WHO-FIP guidelines on good pharmacy practice emphasise that pharmacists should be used to their full potential in education to address vaccination hesitancy and resistance,” she said.
