On our way south for a week in Cornwall we paused to visit Hidcote Garden once more. Although we were now into November there was still much to enjoy. This inspirational garden is the creation of Lawrence Johnston. His garden is one of the worlds most famous Arts & Crafts gardens. His home is surrounded by a series of interlinked garden rooms filled with rare, exotic newly discovered plants brought back from expeditions around the world. As we make our way through these rooms we arrive at wilder more natural areas including a stream filled dell and orchards and woodlands often leading to stunning vistas as the garden melts into the surrounding countryside. This place is always a joy to wander and even though winter was fast approaching there was still the remnants of autumn on display. Gifted to the National Trust in 1948 the garden is protected and lovingly maintained for the benefit of all.
