AI to the Rescue!
A small elephant family in Odisha's Rourkela, Sundargarh district, was saved from a disaster thanks to an AI-powered camera. The elephants - two adults and a calf -were heading toward rail tracks when the AI system alerted authorities. With quick action from the forest and railway departments, a potential tragedy was averted.
This life-saving tech, funded by SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) under a wildlife conservation plan, is already making a difference in the Rourkela Forest Division. High-resolution cameras atop 12-ft towers have already helped protect dozens of elephants!
