Countries in Southeast Asia are pursuing a net-zero future, with 8 out of 10 ASEAN member states at COP26 committing to net-zero targets by 2050.
How can countries in Southeast Asia make the transition to net zero and achieve climate resilience, while ensuring economic prosperity? With the theme, "Imagining a Net-Zero ASEAN," the Asian Development Bank's Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) 2023 will explore measures governments, communities, and private sector entities can take to progress toward carbon neutrality.
SEADS 2023 will explore the following:
• Financing a net-zero ASEAN,
• Deploying technology in climate mitigation and adaptation,
• Ensuring cities are climate-resilient,
• Greening and reshaping of global value chains,
• Shifting to clean energy,
• Ensuring the poor and vulnerable benefit from a net-zero future,
• Minimizing climate effects on health,
• Net zero and the blue economy, and
• Climate-friendly travel.
SEADS 2023 will be held in Bali, Indonesia, with sessions also accessible virtually for free.
