Turning of a big live edge bowl from elm.
The wood was sourced from one of the last big elms in our area. Unfortunately, it succumbed to the elm disease after growing for about 200 years in the alpine highland of my hometown - Berchtesgaden. The landowner called me and asked if I want to buy it and a few days later 10 cubic meter elm with a max diameter of 120cm arrived at my farm.
The bowl was turned green to finish and will warp during the drying process. Elm is mostly easy to dry and doesn't crack easily. It will be hand-sanded once it's dry and receive a protective coat of hard wax oil. I probably post some pictures on my Instagram channel once it's done.
Thanks for watching!
Ps: There is also a long version of the video, that shows the whole process in a more in detail ASMR ish way.
