This place in summer is out of this world, the pools are emerald blue and are absolutely perfect for swimming in, on my visit this time everything was a bit wild but I do love seeing places through the seasons, just didn't fancy a swim like I did earlier in the year.
I say at the start I'm going to find the 'secret cave' and stone circle on the route back round the other valley, but the weather changed on me and I just didn't fancy it, that said, it gives me a good excuse to go back in the summer to show you it in the sunshine.
This route was 3 miles 1 way with little elevation, and if you stay to the right of the river heading up the valley, the path is good and dry most of the way.
There is a Youth Hostel, campsite and pub all within walking distance of this route if you wanted to stay in the area overnight or just for refreshments. The parking is mainly lay by parking with a small pay and display car park in Rosthwaite, so if you visit in summer, you're probably best to avoid the popular times.
