The London Underground S8 stock replaced the older A60 and A62 stock completely by 2012, and bears many mechanical similarities to the S7 stock. All S Stock units were built by Bombardier Transportation and is set to eventually replace all older subsurface stock.
The S8 stock has more seating to accommodate for the long journey and has an extra car as compared to the S7 stock. The Metropolitan Line is the only London Underground line to operate express and semi-express patterns with non-stop sectors.
