Flood scenario turns grim in Assam's Hailakandi area
Apart from Silchar, the flood scenario has also turned grim in neighbouring Hailakandi. Several areas have been submerged by the rising waters of rivers such as Barak, Dhaleswari and Katakhala.
More than 500 people have been shifted to relief camps as their homes have been submerged. The damage to embankments by the raging flood waters has also led to complete breakdown of road communication in many areas.
