Some dramatic rescue scenes played out this afternoon as South Bend firefighters responded to a fire at the St James Apartments at 132 North Eddy Street. Our newsgathering partners at the South Bend Tribune report that a victim on the third floor had exit the building on a ladder put up by firefighters. Investigators think he fire started in the kitchen of an apartment unit on the second floor. _________________
