Given that we just moved into our new house 2 weeks in mid-March, we unfortunately didn’t have the time to employ the cardboard no-till method. After lots of research, I landed on using a sod cutter machine to lift the sod off the ground. While this won’t completely eliminate weeds, it is a way better alternative than till in the grass. Furthermore, I’m not disrupting the soil life, soil aggregates, and even more importantly, not killing all the earthworms right below the sod!

During my research, there were very few Youtube videos on using a sod cutter for the purposes of clearing a field. Most videos were shot by the manufacturer of the machinery or by landscapers. I wanted to create a video where we reflected on the process, our experiences, and what we would potentially do differently.
