Prince Felipe de Borbon of Spain arrived in the Colombian city of Popayan on Saturday.
He was welcomed at the airport by local government officials and scores of residents waving Spanish and Colombian flags.
Breaking from the usual security entourage, Prince Felipe walked freely through Popayan's colonial-style streets, shaking hands with residents who cheered as he walked by.
The Prince was in Colombia as part of a regional tour.
He attended the inauguration of President Andres Pastrana on Friday and is expected to visit Ecuador on Monday.
In Popayan, the Spanish Prince toured the 'Escuela Taller de Popayan' as well as the reconstructed temple of San Francisco and the Chapel of Las Mercedes.
The buildings were built and reconstructed thanks to the technical assistance of over 100-thousand U-S dollars provided by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation - known as A-E-C-I.
