John Lawrence, former chief of staff to Nancy Pelosi, says a possible “red wave” in the midterm elections suggests the “dominant” issue in the campaign has become the economy, particularly inflation.
“And that earlier issues that seemed to favour Democrats, such as concerns about dangers to democracy or the anti-choice decision of the Supreme Court, have faded,” he told Sky News Australia.
“We’re certainly poised to see perhaps this historic midterm reversal for the party in power.”
