Resilient cities need smart technologies embedded in them, but developing those embedded systems can be quite different from developing a traditional software solution. This workshop is designed for application software developers who want to expand their skillset into the world of embedded programming. We will start with a high level look at the differences between traditional application software stacks and those used for embedded programming, before diving into a real world example using a Raspberry Pi Pico, the Arduino IDE, and some readily available components to build a basic smart sensor. After this workshop attendees will be equipped to start following along with the more complex examples they’ll find on Hackster.io
