Amanojaku no Koi Uta / 天邪鬼の恋歌.
1. Why “Contrarian’s Love Song”: The Amanojaku is a creature from Japanese folklore, some sort of a demon that opposes/disrupts people. So now it’s used as an expression to describe someone who tends to rebuke what others say, or generally ummm behaves disagreeably. And it isn’t exactly ‘tsundere’ either. So I decided to go with “contrarian” in the end.
2. My romanization is extremely inappropriate but I guess breaking the words down makes it easier to sing along for those who are unfamiliar with Japanese.... lelelel gomen gomen
3. I'm aware this has already been translated by others before? But I was asked to do this because they say the other versions aren’t very clear. To justify, this song is really pretty challenging. If I just do a 100% direct literal translation... nothing makes sense tbh. Which is why I’ve taken quite some liberties when doing this. The phrasing and expressions of English version therefore deviates somewhat from the Japanese… the general meaning remains the same though. And it flows more naturally. So I guess it’s ok. The IkeSen game itself was pretty liberal with their translation too anyway HAHA. If you have any suggestions/comments, do let me know!
Thanks for watching! If you’ve got other Ikemen Series stuff you’d like to have translated, feel free to leave a comment. You can talk to me at @cybird_official on Instagram too.
