The Collector is empowered to acquire land for a government department or for a company for a public purpose project by paying the land compensation amount. The Land Acquisition Act-1894 deals with the procedure of land acquisition. Land may be acquired for a public purpose project like construction of roads, schools, dams, bridges, offices, and hospitals, etc.
The Collector of the district is empowered to pass the award and payment of land compensation to land owners. Due course of procedure should be followed, so that ends of justice may be met.
