After several attempts, my friends and I finally got the day off together, at that could only mean one thing - tourist day! We visited one of the more popular tourist activities of Fairbanks, the Riverboat Discovery Tour! For only $75, this 4-hour steamboat tour takes you down the canals of the Chena River - explaining history, notable figures, climate, and fun facts all along the way. They provide free snacks and comfortable bathrooms aboard the boat, and even stop to hear from speakers along the side of the river (they're even plugged into the sound system on the boat!) Towards the end of the tour, we hopped off at the Chena Indian Village, where we learned all about the Native Athabascans and their way of life. Of course....it was a 10/10.
