Nathaniel Mander performs La Forqueray by his beloved composer Jaques Duphly.
Duphly was the last of the great 18th century harpsichordists whose music is filled with a sense of nostalgia for a previous age amidst a fraught and changing world.
This work is his absolute masterpiece which makes use of the richness of the late French harpsichords. Nathaniel is performing here on his harpsichord, a double manual copy made by Andrew Garlick based on an instrument by Jean-Claude Goujon.
