Mario's main gimmick in Mario Odyssey is to throw his hat at critters, then take control of them. If he takes control of a goomba, it can then jump on top other goombas to form a stack. Late in the game this boss appears a few places, where Mario stacks goombas to rise high enough to jump on the boss.

And I like the locale, with the Japanese-themed architecture.
