West African leaders have called for urgent financial help from the UN as they discuss sending their troops to fight rebels in Mali. The group ECOWAS has been holding an emergency meeting in the Ivory Coast. France's foreign minister Laurent Fabius told the talks that Africa needs to take the lead in the military operation.
