Here I present my setup of a 2-stage dust collection system (like a cyclone) that is ultra compact - totally enclosed within the stock housing of my shopvac. No need for a cart to hold an external bucket that increases the height or footprint of your shop vac. Hoping this DIY video sparks some ideas for how you can make the smallest and most compact setup for your woodworking workshop!

What is a 2-Stage, Dust Separator, or Dustopper? The Home Depot Dustopper dust separator is super effective at getting all the coarse dust to drop into the bin before the air gets sucked into the filter, so only the finest dust actually makes it to the filter stage. Similar to the Dustopper is Oneida Air's Dust Deputy - also great at separation, but its height prevents me to building it into a hidden setup.

Trivia: I bought this Craftsman vacuum back in 1990 for my woodwork workshop's dust collection when I was in high school and it still runs awesome!
