Rebel leader Riek Machar is now officially the country's first Vice President. Machar was sworn in on Tuesday, soon after he returned to the capital, Juba. Both Machar and President Salva Kiir are now expected to embark on the formation of a unity government, which many South Sudanese hope will bring an end to the internal conflict.
