This video is on carpet anemone bleaching and how to reverse it and revive the coral. In this video I will be using a bleached out carpet anemone that I purchased and over time revived it into a beautifully colored anemone.
*Note - the bleaching was reversed under Viparspectra Lighting.
Things to look for when buying a carpet anemone (even if not bleached out):
- Mouth still intact and not gaping
- Anemone is still sticky
**Do Not buy a carpet anemone with the mouth gapping open or that has lost its stickiness.
Couple Days
This is what it looked like just a couple days after acclimation. Almost completely white with very little signs of color.
2 Weeks
Started regaining color. Green started to comeback. The anemone started to open bigger, but feeding became a concern.
Feeding
I had some concerns at first as it was rejecting all attempts at feeding.
- Initially I was feeding raw shrimp and it would reject it and push it off of itself.
- I was able to get it to eat PE Mysis that I thawed and feed to it.
*Overtime it started eating raw shrimp.
Dosing - ensure you keep up regular dosing, do not make any drastic changes, you want your tank to be stable.
- I slight increased my Kent Coral-Vite dosing by 1 tsp a week for a couple months.
1.5 Months
A lot of green started to comeback. The anemone started to open bigger, showing signs of growth, and feeding became more common.
3 Months
It took a couple months for months but the anemone has regained color and the bleaching is 100% reversed.
