Over 17 killed and dozens were missing on Saturday as heavy rain lashed south & central Kerala. Heavy rain caused flash floods and landslides in many parts of the southern state. Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts were worst affected due to torrential rains. Officials said rain has subsided a bit in central Kerala and armed forces have joined the rescue operations. Authorities have urged citizens not to panic, insisting that ‘everything is under control’. IMD said on Saturday that intense rainfall will reduce significantly from the 17th of October.
