categorically - did I use that work correctly!? lol
Hi Beeples, just trying to clarify the differences between swarm cells, supersede cells and emergency cells....
Different types of queen cells - don't be fooled.
My understanding is that a hive will either make queens to swarm OR make a replacement queen - NOT BOTH.
(I'm happy to be corrected on this)
Yes there are "typical" positions for different types of cells but remember the bees don't read our rule books so us humans need to be flexible and learn to read the hive.
Here is an example of a hive with a new young this season queen, and we had seen many eggs (so has a laying queen) and in usual swarm position, had many queen cups, uncapped queen cells and capped queen cells (potentially 3 rounds of swarms in the making with the different stages).
So I did a split to use slow down the hive and give more space by using the capped cells in the split and I removed all the cups and uncapped cells.
Then we found this frame with cells in what most people will say is supersede or emergency cells...
I thought I would share. I hope this makes sense.
