College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences Professor Jim Luby, PhD, and researcher David Bedford have led the University of Minnesota apple breeding program for the past four decades. During their tenure, the program has gained international acclaim and raised the bar for what consumers consider a good apple.
Luby and Bedford explain the breeding process, varieties, and how the program has evolved from its beginnings in the late 1800s.
