The performance of the Human Puppet / Wayang Orang “Gana Kalajaya”, a classic story of Bathara Gana/Ganesha in Indonesian version, shows the birth of Bathara Gana, its glory and sanctify as a God in Hindu belief and the symbol of broad knowledge. This virtual performance is a special creation of the Palace of Yogyakarta to be performed on the month of September in conjunction with the Ganesha Festival in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Bathara Gana the main actor in this show is portrayed as a creature that has human body and elephant head with a powerful tusk. He was crowned as a God for his success in destroying a powerful enemy and called as Bathara Gana or Bathara Ganesha, and resided in the Kahyangan Glugutinatar. Bathara Gana was blessed with an immense intelligence, memory and knowledge. He was also crown as the God of knowledge.
In Indonesia, Javanese and Balinese Hindu worship Lord Ganesha for their life blessing and protection. Lord Ganesha is also known as the God of Knowledge and God of wisdom. The statue of Lord Ganesha also be found in some places, such as old Hindus and Buddhas temples.
The performance of Wayang Orang “Gana Kalajaya” is a collaboration between the Consulate General of Indonesia in Mumbai and the Palace of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in a nuance of celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. It is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesian in New Delhi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.. This performance is also.
