The close contact isolation requirement has been scrapped in NSW and Victoria as both states also remove a raft of other COVID restrictions.
It is recommended close contacts wear masks indoors when leaving their residential property, avoid sensitive settings such as hospitals, take regular Rapid Antigen Tests, and to work from home where practical.
The easing of restrictions will come into effect as of Friday at midnight in Victoria and 6pm in New South Wales.
It is expected to give some relief to businesses, particularly in hospitality, who have been facing staff shortages due to the isolation requirements.
