Who is eligible for egg donation?

VEDA, Vitalab Egg Donation Agency is about empowering women to help others achieve their dream of starting a family. As a VEDA egg donor, you will be playing a big role in changing a couple’s life by donating your eggs so that they can be parents. We accept donors of all ethnic backgrounds and races for the programme, this allows us to select the ideal donor for each recipient.

The basic requirements for being an egg donor at VEDA include:
- 18-32years of age
- Body mass index (BMI) of 29 or less
- Living in South Africa
- Matric or Matric equivalent
- Drug free
- Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

VEDA accepts donors who use either of the following contraceptives:
Condom
Birth control pills (eg: Yazmin, Minulette, Yaz, Triphasil)
Contraceptive patch
IUD- non hormonal (Example: Copper T)
IUD- Mirena

Unfortunately, should you be using an implant contraceptive such as Implanon, Norplant or Jadelle you will not be able to donate until the implant has been removed.
Should the donor be using contraceptive injections such as Depo Porvera and Nur-Isterate the donor would be required to be off the injections for atleast 3months before they can begin the egg donation process.
