PRINCE HARRY TRIES HIS HAND AT SPEAKING ARABIC AT CHARITY DINNER
On October 7th 2013 Britain's Prince Harry attended a fundraiser in Dubai in support of the Sentebale charity he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
Sentebale aims to support children living with HIV/AIDS in the impoverished landlocked Kingdom of Lesotho in Southern Africa.
The prince attended a dinner and charity auction, which raised more than a million US dollars to help build Sentebale's Mamohato Children's Centre of Excellence in Lesotho.
The prince told guests that the funds raised by the charity auction would not disappear into a "box" but were destined for a vital project.
The center will allow the charity to build on its Mamohato programme, which helps with the emotional and psychological needs of children living with HIV.
During the evening items including rare Islamic gold and silver coins and a polo weekend were auctioned to raise funds.
The prince even managed a few words in Arabic to wish Dubai good luck in its bid for the 2020 World Expo.
Singer Joss Stone was also present at the charity event and was expected to perform later in the evening.
"This one is special (this event) because it came from Harry who I believe is a lovely person and the fact that he keeps going out there is a constant thing its been growing it's not just a one time - I'm going to go out there and show my face and let it be a little bit of a promo thing. It's not like that. It is so, so far from that," she said.
"I was asked to come here and help something beautiful and I was free that day so I said okay, so here I am," she added.
Harry left Dubai for the UK soon after the dinner after spending the weekend on a whistle-stop tour of Australia.
