In Afghanistan, Taliban forces could be in the capital Kabul in a matter of days.
The U.S. embassy there is due to be evacuated except for a few key personnel in the next 36 hours, and President Biden has ordered another one-thousand troops to Kabul to ensure that they are able to get out safely.
That brings the total number of troops in that operation to 5-thousand.
Staying behind at the embassy will be special agents and security personnel tasked with destroying sensitive materials.
The Taliban now control roughly two thirds of Afghanistan, and they're replenishing their ranks by freeing prisoners along the way.
President Biden said on Saturday that any attack on U.S. personnel will be met with swift military response, but he said an indefinite U.S. military presence is not an option.
