The monolithic "Nandi" sculpture is said to be the biggest monolithic Nandi in India. It is 4.5m high and 8.23m long. This is on the main road of Lepakshi and about 200 meters from the Lepakshi Veerabhadra temple.
Jatayu is a large vulture/Gidd mentioned in the Hindu Epic Ramayana. As per the Epic, it fell down from the skies in this village.
The park has a small hill of rocks.
There is a statue of the bird on the highest point of the rocks.
There is a well-maintained garden all around the rocky hill.
One has to climb metallic steps to reach the top. There are no elevators.
There are two sections at the top, the viewpoint with a small temple-like structure, and, the highest point where the actual statue of the Jatayu is installed.
But, the entrance to the Jatayu's location is restricted and the stairs are separate and locked. I am not sure on what occasions they are opened.
The view at the top is breathtaking. One can see most of the houses of the village, fields and some hills. Of course, this includes the NANDI and the Veerabhadra Swamy Temple itself.
There is an Andhra Pradesh Tourism counter at the entrance to the park.
The entrance fee is 10/- Indian Rupees as of 10 November 2018.
