A small example of improvements in Israeli-Jordanian relations
has come about with the opening of the first ever restaurant in
downtown Amman to serve Jewish kosher food. The 120-seat Istanbul
Restaurant will also serve traditional Lebanese dishes. Champagne
flowed as Rabbi Sraia Malachi, from Tel-Aviv, officiated at the
opening ceremony last Thursday (8/6). Second Secretary at the Israeli Embassy, Eynat Shlein-Michael, cut the tape at the celebrations as Rabbi Malachi placed a mezuzah, a prayer sign believed to bring good fortune, at the door.
