Professor Dan Reinstein demonstrates an optimised technique for lenticule removal that minimises trauma to the cornea and hence optimises day 1 vision in the patient. The technique involves keeping control of the position of the globe while creating the dissection of the lenticule planes: this enables the surgeon to have full control of the force being applied to the stromal interfaces compared to allowing the globe to move around or requiring the patient to use their extraocular muscles to provide counter-traction during the dissection phase.
