0:00 - Intro
BAD:
1 - single configuration
So the Crew Cab and 5’2” bed you get here my be the only option, but it’s a good option and won’t alienate too many buyers
2 - Headlights in screen
The headlight controls are not on their own dedicated stalk or panel to the left of the steering wheel
The GMC Canyon come STANDARD with Automatic LED headlights
3 - No hybrid or deisel
But then we look at the 2.7 high-output engine we DO have and it makes more torque than the old diesel engines so you can tow more
AND it's been getting about 20 mpg combined so it’s still fairly efficient - all while not adding the complexity, weight, and headache of a hybrid system
4 - All window button
You’ve got a button to drop all the windows at once… but the button doesn’t bring them back up….
5 - Price
This one is tough to talk about because as of the recording of this video the Canyon is the most expensive midsize truck by some margin…it starts at $37k
-
GOOD:
1 - Truck stuff
You get a 5’2” bed no matter what
In that bed you can put up to 1640 lbs of STUFF
Assuming you’re putting it in a 2WD Elevation trim
And you can tie that STUFF down with a number of rails and hooks, etc.
You can even plug something in with the 110V outlet in the bed
But then if you want to tow, you can max out at a very healthy 7700 lbs..not bad
2 - The engine
And that’s because the Canyon ones standard with the high-output of the 2.7T 4 cylinder
This engine is a beast, here it makes 310 hp and 430 lbft of torque
3 - AT4X is a beast
This new Canyon introduces a new trims we’ve never seen before and it’s the sister trim to the Colorado ZR2 - it’s the AT4X…and it’s a beast
3 inches of lift total
10.7 inches of clearance
trim-specific 17 in beadlock capable wheels
33 inch Goodyear Wrangler M/Ts
“air down” mode
Multimatic DSSV
e-lockers on the rear AND front axles
trail camera mounted under the body with a washer
a host of skid plates to protect your underbody
rock sliders…nice
And with the revised bumpers and moving the front axle forward you’re looking at
37 degrees of approach - but the first edition will be a little less
24.5 degrees of breakover
And 25 degrees of departure
You’ve also got that revised front bumper, a brush bar, winch, and light bar
You’ve got an offroad performance display on your 11 inch center screen
AND you get a baja drive mode
4 - non AT4X offroady stuff
All Canyons also have a revised front axle that’s been moved forward to improve approach
You’ve also got LSDs as standard for the Denali and AT4
And since it’s 2023 we’ve got technology to help us out on the trails with an Offroad display.
That display shows Pitch & roll, altimeter, tire pressure, transfer case status and more
5 - Looks cool
Each Canyon looks cool and comes with the High and Wide treatment
Which means 2 inches of suspension lift and flared fenders front and rear
But if every truck gets a 2 inch lift does that mean no trucks have lifts?
You’ve also got an imposing front fascia with unique grile
And headlights that looks eerily similar to those on the Sierra
In your lower fascia you’ve got recovery hooks depending trim
And then around the side you’ve got squared off wheel wells…with amber markers in them
You’ve got trim specific wheels and tires
On each of the front doors you’ll get a trim badge
And then around back you get LED taillights standard as well
6 - Tailgate
First of all they’re all damped…except for the base Elevation trim
BUT in the tailgate you get a secret lockable cubby…and it has a drain built into it!
7 - Interior
The design is cleaner and more modern…sure it’s still very similar to the Colorado, but the dash materials, for example are nicer
There’s more leather, more stitching, less plastic - it feels more luxury tier than ever before
And it’s comfy too
8 - Tech
Doning your dash are two huge screens…and they’re both standard
One is for you fully digital cluster which is fantastic and customizable
It’s 8 inches on the elevation and AT4, but 11 inches on the Denali and At4X
The other is for your 11.3 in infotainment screen..which is also fantastic

9 - Luxuries
Heated and cooled seats

10 - Rear seats
no, there are no heated seats back here
But the space is pretty decent
