Tunisia is often regarded as the success story of the Arab Spring. Last week the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet received the Nobel Peace Prize for “building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011”. But with the recent attacks by ISIL, the government has had to declare a state of emergency and pass controversial “anti-terror” laws. As Tunisia marks five years since igniting the Arab Spring, we look at the challenges it faces today.
