Topiku are the World's Premier Sustainable Hats 🧢
From Trash to Hats, Topiku’s hats are ethically handmade by artisans in Cigondewah, Indonesia and utilize components of upcycled and recycled waste materials.
Here is how it works:
🗑️ Collection: Local trash pickers are contracted to collect buckets and metal scraps from landfills.
♻️ Recycling: Salvaged buckets are crushed, shredded, washed, melted down and then remolded into brims.
👚 Upcycling: Textile offcuts and leather scraps otherwise known as post-industrial waste, are collected and purchased along with deadstock fabrics from local apparel manufacturers.
* This process is known as upcycling: adding value to old or discarded materials.
✂️ Assembly: The revitalised waste materials then come together in Topiku’s hat-making community located in Desa Rahayu, Cigondewah, Indonesia, where each hat is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans.
This process allows Topiku to divert material from ending up in landfills and reduce their carbon footprint by over 80%.
