The staff and summer field school of 2013 excavated an area just to the North of the brick church. Here they found numerous late 17th-century burials, an 18th century brick cemetery wall, and a ditch from the second half of the 17th-century, which contained a complete horse or mule skeleton. It is also in the area that the archaeologists were looking for evidence of an addition that was made to James Fort in 1608. A special thanks to Shane Ward from the 2013 field school for his photos.
