Do you have MS & your knee locks or hyperextends when standing or walking 🤷🏼♀️?
Most of my clients who experience this symptom have pain in & around the knee + unstable walking…
…meaning they trip more often, have more missteps, and feel off balance 🤸🏼♀️ when walking indoors AND outside.
And yes, it can occur when using a mobility aid, too!
👉🏼 Here’s my favorite exercise you can do RIGHT now — as you’re watching this video — to counteract knee locking and hyperextending!
1️⃣ Sit in a chair
2️⃣ Straighten one knee
3️⃣ Hold for a second or two
4️⃣ Switch sides
This strengthens the muscles on the top of your thighs… your QUAD muscles 🦵.
When those are weak… your legs can lock & extend backward.
👉🏼 My 2nd favorite exercise is:
1️⃣ Stand in a staggered stance with one leg forward and one leg back
2️⃣ Slightly bend both knees so that they aren’t locked
3️⃣ Shift your weight onto your front leg, pause for a second, then shift your weight onto your back leg… all WITHOUT letting your knee(s) lock 🔒!
Will you give one of these exercises a try? ⬇️ Let me know in the comments if you ever struggle with your knees locking/hyperextending!
