Children with enlarged nasal turbinates – a condition called turbinate hypertrophy - may require one of several different procedures. These procedures are variations of a turbinoplasty – a procedure aimed to reduce the size of the turbinates and allow for healthy breathing. Variations of this procedure include partial inferior turbinectomy, turbinoplasty with microdebrider and inferior turbinate reduction.
In this video, ENT experts at Children’s Hospital Colorado provide an overview of the causes of turbinate hypertrophy and the treatment options that are often required to return the turbinate to its normal size.
