Israeli Arab demonstrators protested against the increasing violence and lack of security in their neighbourhoods.
STORY-LINE:
Israeli Arabs demonstrated on Friday in Umm al-Fahm, in northern Israel, denouncing the lack of law enforcement and security amid a recent rise in violence in Arab towns.
On Tuesday, a 15-year-old teenager was shot and killed in Jaljulia, in central Israel.
Another teen was also wounded in the incident and is in hospital in critical condition.
Additional details remained under gag order.
"We are demonstrating to protest the failure of the police to deal with the increasing crime and violence in our community," said Yousef Jabareen, a Knesset member from the Joint List.
The increase in killings within Arab communities highlights a longstanding mistrust between the marginalised community and Israeli authorities, with each side accusing the other of neglecting the problem.
"Tens of years of discrimination have created this very dangerous socio-economic status within our community," said Jabareen.
Israel's Arab community, which makes up around 20% of its population, has full citizenship, including the right to vote, but faces widespread discrimination in housing and other areas.
They have close ties to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, which has led many Jewish Israelis to view them with suspicion.
