Appeals and Redress: Resolving Anishinabek disputes through Anishinabek systems.
The Anishinabek Nation dispute resolution systems and services under the Appeals and Redress project is continuing to be developed under the guidance of the Legal Department.
The Union of Ontario Indians completed extensive consultations with Anishinabek citizens on the Anishinabek Nation dispute resolution systems and services; received the unanimous approval of the Anishinabek Nation Chiefs in Assembly on the establishment of the Anishinabek Nation Tribunal and Commission and four Regional Dispute Resolution Commissions; obtained authorizing Band Council resolutions from some of the member First Nations; completed accredited mediation training of Anishinabek citizens to conduct dispute resolution services; and developed considerable Commission policies, promotional material, and educational information about the Anishinabek Nation dispute resolution systems and services.
