The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has been completely redesigned and is now competitive in the extremely crowded compact crossover segment. The Outlander and the new Nissan Rogue share a base and mechanical components, including an underwhelming 181-hp four-cylinder engine.
The 2022 Outlander is a completely new model, marking the start of a new generation of Mitsubishi's tiny crossover. The PHEV version will be available in 2022, maybe as a 2023 model, according to Mitsubishi.
The 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine in the Outlander produces 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It only works with a CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission) (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, however all-wheel drive is available as an option.
The new Outlander's cabin materials are far superior to those of its predecessor, which were hampered by cheap plastics and flimsy trim pieces. The interior accents and surfaces are of greater quality, and the design is finally considered modern. Depending on the specification level, the new Outlander has an 8.0- or 9.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on both units, but only the latter lets consumers to connect their iPhones wirelessly. The system has hard buttons and tactile knobs for volume and tuning, as well as charging outlets at the bottom of the central stack. A 10-speaker Bose music system, wireless device charging, and access to the subscription-based Mitsubishi Connect app that allows remote services are all accessible infotainment options.
