Secured credit cards benefit those with bad or non-existent credit histories, and they allow you to put up collateral (usually a cash deposit) in order to get a credit card. For example, handing over a deposit of $500 will give you a $500 credit limit. It's a good option (or perhaps the only option) for those who don't yet qualify for a regular credit card.
