In this episode, I set off on my first cruise on my newly acquired narrowboat, Grey Wagtail.

I have five days to take the narrowboat from the Whilton Marina on the Grand Union Canal, along 30 miles of canal, through 30 locks, and at least one tunnel, to the Croperdy Marina on the Oxford Canal. I am a newbie boater who has never driven a 57-foot narrowboat.
I start my journey at the Whilton Marina on the Grand Union, and my first day is full of challenges and adventures. I navigate through seven locks, tackle the historic Braunston Tunnel, and complete four of the six locks into Braunston.
With no experience handling a 57-foot boat, I make a bit of a hash getting out of the marina, but with determination and a lot of help, I make progress. The day is packed with leaky locks, stunning countryside views, and a steep learning curve as I adjust to driving the Grey Wagtail.
