Villingili and now administratively called Villimale in the present day is one of the islands located in North Male atoll in the Maldives. If you are in the capital city-Male, it is only a 10-minute boat ride in the Villingili Ferry Terminal. Fare is only 3 Maldivian rufiyaa (0.64 USD) one way.
It's actually an unplanned trip when my colleagues and I happened to have the same off-duty that day. From my personal experience, you can actually wander the whole island for 30 minutes to 1 hour. The island 0.27 km2 (0.10 sq mi) big. How cool it is!
What do in Villigili/ Villimale?
‣SWIM- of course, it's the Maldives. Quite actually surprising how crystal turquoise clear the water of their beach is despite it being a residential atoll.
‣ SNORKELING- they have shallow snorkeling spots where you can see different kinds of fish.
‣WATER SPORTS- jetski, kayak, banana boat, flyboarding, funtube, etc. they can offer:)
‣SCUBA DIVING- There are some Scuba diving centers on the island. I might try it soon!
‣PICNIC- You can enjoy your meal/food while overlooking the city of Male at the seaside.
‣PLACE TO CHILL.
Overall, you can explore the place for just a day or a half. Pretty place to unwind in escaping the hustle and bustle of life in the main cities of Maldives. I mostly recommend it for budget travelers or for those who want to recharge themselves.
