The Indian Government is going to introduce a new tariff structure called (The Time of Day) .
This is how it works.
So until now, we pay our electricity bills at a fixed rate, say 8 Rs per unit. (example as in the video)
But according to this rule, there will be different electricity rates at different times.
The Government has divided one day into 3 parts,
8 hours of solar time or day time, and the rest of the day will be split into peak hours and normal hours.
The catch here is that, the electricity rate will be cheaper during the 8 hours of solar time
And will be expensive in the night.
This law will be applicable from somewhere around 2025, but one major problem with all this
is the instalment of such smart meters that can accurately charge the right rates at the right time.
So are you ready to sleep without the AC on at night or are you ready to pay the extra amount? Best of luck for the people who live in hot cities.
