NEWTON COUNTY- by Sarai Demien
Rain fall has many living close to the Sabine River preparing for flooding. Many say it is a practice they have learned to expect.
Right in front of Ricky Buxton's house in Deweyville is the Sabine River. Since yesterday he has been keeping a close eye on rising water levels.
"Yesterday morning there was no water it's almost a foot deep out there right now," says Buxton.
He has lived on the Sabine River for the past ten years and says he knows how to prepare for flooding.
"My house is eight foot up off the ground so I just get everything that I think is gonna float and take it out that's all you can do," says Buxton.
Water is already flooding the streets down Micah Fedoroff's neighborhood and he says this is only the beginning.
"So they're saying maybe three to five inches of rain depending on the next day two days that'll put it up there close to the 28 maybe 27 and a half which is kinda like a crest a historical crest almost," says Fedoroff.
Micah Fedoroff has grown to expect rising water levels.
"If you don't expect a flood then you know it's like going to Colorado and not expecting snow," says Fedoroff.
